Saturday the 28th of October ,right after the league games ,was a one of a kind tournament. First of all it was held from 7pm ,yes, just when the streets of Kisumu started buzzing. It was the Bring You Own Board (BYOB) blitz tournament. It held players from the league section and youngsters trying to usurp the veterans in this contest of speed and wit . Even yours truly was participating.
The event was fast ,adrenaline pumping and above all it was a blast. The most memorable game from the event was FM Haruna and Eric Muteti Mwendwa .The game was inclining towards white but the fide master found a brilliant rook sac at f2.

After 11 rounds of tension ,laughter and amazing chess the results were as follows.
This tournament was a much needed reprieve for the players to unwind and play some interesting and fun chess. Hopefully more tournaments adapt this idea and organize blitz tournament after long classical ones .
